A New Concept in Online Travel

Feb 22, 2012 | No Responses

Bloomsberg Businessweek (a Canadian publication) published an article about the future of online travel websites.  The opening argument, the travel experience has become mechanical.  To quote vice-president of Expedia, Joe Megibow, “Travel agencies used to be such a personalized experience,” who goes on to state the “soul of travel” is lost.

Online travel drives huge numbers in search engines, clinching one of the top spots for most researched topic on the web.  And with the continual rise of social media networks, the two have decided to wed.  Facebook is personalizing that experience in the impersonal world of online travel.

The idea is to produce results that are more personalized.  Companies tap into Facebook’s resources to build lists of travel destinations.  Instead of receiving information that might be skewed by marketing angles, the system searches streams directly from the people you know, trusted sources.  Logically when planning a vacation the first people you turn to for advice are family and friends.

Gaining trust is hard to conquer in the world wide web, and yes it is true that computers have taken away from the personal touches face to face meetings have, but that doesn’t mean all is said and lost.  Personalizing the experience is what we want to achieve at Cheap Cancun Rentals, this is what motivated us.  With our personal rental finder, and updated article database we hope to bring a bit of personality to the site.

Having gone through the same agonizing process of finding the perfect vacation rental (too many times to count) we maintain a patient approach with every situation.  We want to give people insight into the little lost treasures in the Yucatan.  Or, give our honest opinion.  Cheap Cancun Rentals was started purely out of love for Mexico.  It’s just comforting to know that the online world hasn’t killed the need for more personal experiences.

We want active conversations, and tips shared between visitors.  Even I want to know different places to go.  I don’t sit at a corner office, or busy my time with corporate meetings.  All of us involved in the site want to experience Mexico.  This is where it all comes from, the love for the country.

As our dedicated travel writer, Janelle scours Cancun and the Riviera Maya for all the cool things to do around here. From working and living to getting around, and, of course, the best beaches (she loves her sun and sand). Janelle lets you know how it is. As our Chief Operations Officer she makes sure we are not skipping out on work to laze on the beach (although sometimes she joins us). She's a pleasure to have around and always making us laugh with her crazy stories.
