Party in Cancun for $40 a night, all you can drink
As you all know Cancun is a haven for students during spring break, and is notorious for the 24 hours parties. If you plan to come in March and April you’ll be swarmed by students ready to hit North America’s hottest playground for the young and beautiful. Spending $40 a night in Canada or the USA doesn’t get you very far. Maybe a few drinks and a street hotdog, but in Cancun… well, you can party all night.
Alcohol is relatively inexpensive in Mexico, so to party without breaking the budget is not farfetched. For as little as $40 you can easily enter one of the hottest nightclubs in the Hotel Zone, alcoholic drinks included.
Last year was my first winter in Cancun. Every weekend and sometimes during the week I was going out, trust me. Needless to say, it progressively got hard on the work schedule. Lucky for me a local friend of mine (who owns a local tour company and speaks the language perfectly) got us into a club for $15US, drinks included! It still amazes me, turned out to be a great night.
The Top Clubs
Some of the top clubs in Cancun are Signor Frogs, Mandala (which opened last year), Coco Bongo, The City and Daddy O’s. I’ve been to all of them and my top picks would definitely be Signor Frogs and the City. Daddy O’s during spreak break can get kinda crazy. You’ve never seen anything like it.
Now keep in mind clubs close at 3am here but it doesn’t mean the night is over. There are after hours where you can wind down (or wind up) the night at your pleasure.
Getting There
All of these clubs are within walking distance from each other and you can easily skip from one to the other if one doesn’t strike your fancy.
To get into the center of it all just ask any Taxi driver to take you to Coco Bongo in the hotel zone and then pick your place.
Negotiating Your Price
There are countless promoters in front of all the clubs and littering the streets just waiting for your business. As the usual standard they will offer entry for $50 for the night, all you can drink. My advice, flatly refuse and counter offer at $35. You’re not being cheap, this form of bartering is the Mexican way, and, believe it or not, you gain their respect this way. The price usually falls at around $40. Exchange for the money you get a bracelet which allows you to walk right in, and the party begins!
