The cheapest Tacos in Cancun

Jan 21, 2012 | No Responses

A friend of mine is always in search of the cheapest, but best, tacos in downtown Cancun. Every once in awhile he’ll come up to me with this big grin and I know exactly what he’s thinking, I’ve found it again, the cheapest tacos in town. Seeing as there’s an abundance of little family run establishments cheaper usually only means a few pesos but when you live on the peso this extra savings will add up.

Without fail he had, yet again, found cheap tacos so we decided to take the ten minute walk to curb our hunger. The street we were looking for was Nader and the main intersection is Kukulkan and Tulum. If you’re walking on Kukulkan go east on Nader which is parallel to Tulum, one street south.

This place is a maze of little streets with storefronts lined similar to a storage unit. Beware it’s dirty and you don’t want to find yourself wondering around here at night but the people are friendly and food decent. There are also little convenient stores that are much cheaper than the ones you’ll find on the more popular streets.

Each little place offers the typical 4-5 staple Mexican foods all written haphazardly on a piece of bristol board. In front there are 2-3 sets of the classic plastic, outdoor patio sets. Very quintessential in Mexico which I like because it makes things so much more relaxed, less formal. The portions were very generous and once you layered on your salsas and peppers one taco would surely put a dent in your hunger craving.
